5 Reasons Your Website Isn’t Converting Part 2
In this part 2 blog post, we’ll introduce the remaining common reasons why your website may not be producing revenue for you:
Reason 5: Is Your Value Clear?
Conversion Is a System, Not a Single Page
At-A-Glance
If your value isn’t clear within seconds, visitors will leave. Clear, specific messaging builds trust and gets results.
Conversion takes more than one headline or button—it’s a system that combines SEO, design, trust signals, and strategy.
5. Your Value Isn’t Clear (cont.)
If site visitors don’t understand why your business matters to them, they won’t convert. Visitors make decisions fast—often within seconds—so your site must clearly communicate what sets you apart.
A strong value proposition answers these three questions right away:
What do you offer?
Who is it for?
Why should someone choose you instead of a competitor?
If your homepage headline reads something like “Helping You Reach Your Goals”, that’s too vague.
Compare it to:
“Personalized Financial Planning for First-Time Investors.”
The second version is clear, targeted, and immediately tells the visitor if they’re in the right place.
Don’t use corporate buzzwords. Overly technical phrases—like “scalable integrated solutions for future-focused growth”—may sound impressive, but confuse your audience.
Instead, use plain, relatable language that speaks to your customer’s actual needs. Support your message with digital trust signals or proof, such as:
Client testimonials that highlight specific results
Quick stats or case studies that show impact
Badges or certifications that build credibility
When your value is specific, human, and backed by evidence, visitors feel more confident about engaging with your brand. Clarity builds trust, and trust leads to action, which can address why my Squarespace website is “invisible” on Google.
Conversion Is a System, Not a Single Page
Getting more customers from your website isn’t about tweaking one button or rewriting a single headline. Conversion is the result of an entire system or sales funnel working together, from the first click to the final action.
Think of it like building a house. Each part must function well: the foundation, the walls, the roof. If one part is weak, the whole thing feels unstable. Your website is no different.
The website user experience and conversions system often includes five key elements:
-
Using targeted SEO and paid ads to bring in people who are already looking for what you offer
-
Helping visitors instantly understand who you are and how you help
-
Keeping things fast, mobile-friendly, and easy to navigate
-
Including reviews, real photos, privacy signals, and helpful content
-
Using buttons, forms, and offers that guide people forward without pressure
If your site isn’t converting, it’s rarely because of just one issue. Usually, it’s a mix of small problems across the customer journey. Fixing them one by one turns confusion into clarity—and browsers into buyers. The Squarespace SEO checklist by itself won't turn users into customers.
Conversion is the result of your entire site working together to serve real people with real needs.
Results of an SEO Campaign for Search Engine Visibility
At this point, you’ve got a solid grasp of what SEO does. But how can you tell if it’s really working? What results of an SEO Campaign show that your SEO efforts are paying off?
One clear way is to look at where your website shows up in a search on Google. That’s a good place to start—but rankings aren’t everything. Check out PageFound’s “About” page to learn more about why ranking #1 isn’t the only metric in a successful SEO campaign.
The main goal of SEO is to make your website appear higher on Google and get more visitors. Still, getting more clicks is just part of the bigger picture. What really matters is what that traffic does once it reaches your site.
Take health insurance agent websites. The purpose of SEO in this case isn’t just to gain visibility—it’s to bring new clients through the door. That means the most useful signs of success aren’t just rankings, but actions like:
phone calls
contact form submissions
email signups
A good SEO plan is more than just numbers. It reaches out to real people, shows them where to find answers, and encourages to do what's next. Done right, SEO doesn’t just build traffic. It builds trust and drives real business results.
